Biathlon/Cross-country Fitness training

March 3 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am PST

 0930 – 1130 hrs. Stomping Grounds coffee shop, Osprey Village. Dress is sports gear; dress for the weather (including a running jacket, hat and gloves) and bring a water bottle with water. OPI Capt Middelveen; coach: CV Underwood. We are starting a cross-country running team as well. If you’re interested, come on out!

This Week: We’ll meet at 09:30 am. 2 km warm up, then stretch; 3 or 5 km easy/moderate pace depending on your skill group, beginner or advanced – 10 min recovery, 2 or 3k moderate/fast (depending on your group), then stretch. Finish by 11:30. The group distance goal is to jog continuously for your assigned distance. I realize that I may have been pushing the newer runners beyond their readiness level, so we’ll be splitting into two groups, beginner and advanced. The ultimate goal is to run 10 km continuously; hopefully we can all run the Golden Ears Bridge (10k) together!

Cadet participants are to run at least twice per week, 2km each before the next training, and run on your own time if you can’t make the training session. Cadets can download “Map My Run” and it will record distance and time (there are other tracker apps such as Google Fit, Adidas Sports, Asics Runkeeper or Nike Run Club). Note that as part of your level training, you are supposed to track your physical activity anyway, using the Physical Activity Tracker available from the Sqn web page.
